Materials manufacturer Covestro has been named a Top Employer in China for the seventh consecutive year by the Top Employers Institute, reflecting its commitment to employee well-being, workplace environment, people development, diversity and inclusion, and innovative HR practices.
“We are honored to be recognized as a Top Employer in China for seven years in a row. This achievement underscores our employee-focused approach and ongoing efforts to create an inclusive, supportive and empowering workplace,” said Holly Lei, President of Covestro China.
In 2024, Covestro China introduced several initiatives to foster leadership and employee growth. The “Manager Enabling” program engaged people managers through case studies, role-playing and interactive games, equipping them with tools to apply Covestro’s cultural behaviors, identify moments that matter in the employee lifecycle, and enhance employee conversations. Meanwhile, the “Leadership Foundation Program for Shift Leaders” has supported over 80 frontline leaders at Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai in strengthening their leadership skills and advance their careers. Both programs received widespread acclaim, reinforcing Covestro’s emphasis on leadership development at all levels.
The company has also built a comprehensive well-being system that addresses physical, mental, social and environmental dimensions. The first-ever Well-being Week held in October 2024 featured activities such as healthy food competition, well-being talent showcases and health lectures at sites and offices across the nation. On top of that were family outings, sports events and beach clean-ups held nationwide, fostering a sense of belonging and boosting employee morale.
“At Covestro, we view our employees as whole individuals, not just as a workforce, valuing their personal growth and well-being alongside their professional contributions. Our goal is to empower them to create value for the company while growing personally,” said Lesley Lin, Head of Human Resources, Greater China.
The Top Employers Institute program certifies organizations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey, which covers six HR domains consisting of 20 topics, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity, equity and inclusion, and well-being.
